What People's Say About Place

Three of us dined here for lunch and we were so satisfied with the food and their generous portions. We had the spicy sashimi don, eel and prawn hutomaki, and soft shell crab salad. Would absolutely recommend. It can get quite busy, so sometimes I get takeaway instead.

I ordered the Ochazuke, which was thoughtfully prepared and well balanced in flavour. The dish was clean, comforting, and executed with care, reflecting good attention to detail. Pricing is reasonable and aligned with the quality offered. While the experience was enjoyable overall, there remains some scope for refinement to elevate the dish further.

A serendipitous discovery with the family! This Japanese eatery was so vibrant we felt fortunate to claim the final empty table. We deferred to the wisdom of the crowd and ordered the apparent highlights, which were exceptional. Miso Chashu Ramen: An umami-rich bowl. The chashu was exceptionally aromatic with a subtle smokiness from charring, complemented by a deeply savory miso broth. Nagasaki Seafood Ramen: A masterclass in balance. The tonkotsu based broth was unctuous without being heavy, and the seafood assortment was abundant, offering remarkable value. California Roll: Noted for its substantial size and a lavish topping of tobiko that provided a delightful burst of flavor and texture. Taco kariagge: Fried octopus, expertly executed with a golden, crisp exterior giving way to a pleasantly tender and bouncy bite. An impeccable companion for a cold beer. The pervasive presence of sashimi and sushi platters throughout the dining room has firmly placed them on our agenda for the next visit. We'll be back soon

I’ve been coming to Moeru for years with my family and today came for my birthday. It seemed that there has been a change in management or owners as we notice some of food seemed to taste different or look different to what we were used to. However I can say that even with the minor changes, Moeru is still our no.1 place in Sydney for delicious and affordable sushi and Japanese food. We ordered the large sushi and medium sashimi alongside a cold udon, seafood ramen, curry udon and oysters (at an incredibly affordable price for Sydney prices at $22 for 6 oysters). Everything was phenomenal, the sushi portions were very large and tasted very fresh and the oysters (that was freshly shucked!!!) were delicious and so so flavourful. The udons and ramen were also cooked very well and were wonderful accompaniments to our seafood feast. The service also was wonderful and the servers were very patient and catering to our dietary needs and requests. Me and my family will absolutely be coming back here and can happily say Moeru is in good hands.

13/9/25 - 4 stars Quite a while since I last visited Moeru so thought its due for a re-review. Still as busy as ever with peak hour waiting times of at least 30mins. Service is fairly quick and straight to the point. Decor has improved (I think??). To the main point: the food. I think it's dipped a little in quality and flavour. Value for money is just ok I'd say now, though, obviously you are paying for seafood mostly. Nigiri Flavour: A+, 7.5/10. If not for the anago and aburi salmon, I would have to say this was underwhelming. Mostly lean tuna, salmon and sea brawn Texture: S, 8/10. Rice was decently soft but definitely not that fluffy. No vinegar. No wasabi on the sushi. Wasabi: C, 5/10. Straight from the tube. Didn't even want to use it. Value: S, 8/10. $63 for $24 pieces is still good. Sashimi Flavour: S, 8/10. Maybe it was the rice holding it back but the fish tasted better here. Texture: S+, 8.5/10. Again seemed better. The fatty tuna was quite nice Value: SS, 9/10. $74 for 36 pieces is pretty hard to beat. Okonomiyaki: B, 6/10. Very doughy. Not much substance. Spicy chuuka ramen Broth: S, 8/10. Savoury and spicy but not very authentic. Still tasty. Noodles: A, 7/10. Chashu: S, 8/10. Value: S, 8/10. $20 Katsu curry Katsu: S+, 8.5/10. Actually quite well fried and crispy Curry: S+, 8.5/10. May be standard issue but still nice Value: A, 7/10. $20
